Our long history of driving behavior and safety research has resulted in product features that have sound scientific basis. Transecurity is constantly looking for ways to participate in research programs that will advance the state of the art in driving safety and on-board driver safety systems.
Transecurity Research Projects
National statistics indicate that driver fatigue and distraction remain a significant safety issue for commercial fleets and their drivers. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration estimated that over 100,000 crashes caused by drowsy drivers each year result in more than 1500 fatalities and 71,000 injuries. In a recent survey, over 25% of truckers indicated they had fallen asleep at the wheel in the previous month. In addition, at trucking summit meetings drowsy driving is consistently identified as the most important safety concern among commercial drivers.
Given the significant data indicating driver fatigue and distraction as key accident factors, Transecurity has done extensive research into current technology capabilities to create options that address specific driver weaknesses and cost-effective ways for companies to implement helpful solutions.

Driver Fatigue Monitoring and Alerting System SBIR
This project is focused on creating a prototype driver fatigue monitoring system that uses multiple variables to determine driver fatigue and impairment levels. The variables being analyzed include PERCLOS, driver control inputs, and lane tracking. The result will be a robust driver fatigue monitoring system that is both reliable and accurate under a wide variety of driver types and driving conditions. Learn More...
